Since 2000, the Apostolic Christian Home of Eureka has made significant effort to move our health care center from the highly regulated hospital model of the past to a model focused on making our facility as much like “home” for the residents as possible. We are focused on doing things based on how the residents would have done them at their own home.

Dining
In August 2002, we completed the building of two state of the art dining rooms with attached satellite kitchens. With this we began a new dining approach aimed at increasing resident dining choices and creating a pleasant social event at each meal.
To achieve a pleasurable dining experience, we practice the following:
- Extended meal times
- Breakfast is served from 6:30 to 9:30 so residents can get up early or sleep in and still get a hot breakfast
- Restaurant style dining, so residents can choose from a variety of menu items regarding type and quantity of food they desire
- Our menu includes the regular prepared menu developed by the Registered Dietician plus an additional entrée, vegetable and side dish to choose from
- A daily salad buffet provides a range of salads for residents to choose from
- Homemade baked goods including cinnamon and pecan rolls, delicious cookies and a whole range of other goodies!
- Ability to prepare food on a demand basis in our satellite kitchen rather than holding it in a steam table for a long period of time -- especially convenient for items such as eggs or grilled cheese sandwiches
- Interaction with staff from all departments within the Home as they help take orders and serve the residents
Spa Rooms

As we endeavor to make the bathing experience more pleasurable, we have done the following:
- In the past three years, we have been able to purchase 5 new whirlpool tub systems with up to date technology that allow for the bathing experience to be a pleasant one
- We have also redecorated 5 bathing rooms and transformed them into spas with beautiful ceramic tile, plants, pictures and even a towel warmer! The residents love having a warm towel wrapped around them when they are finished with their bath!

Treats
We know that everyone has a “snack attack” once in a while so we have the following to satisfy the residents hunger:
- Coca Cola Snack cooler – filled with tasty treats and drinks for the residents to help themselves to at anytime
- Ice Cream machine – every afternoon soft serve ice cream is available in the Upstairs guest dining room. Help yourself when you are here to visit!
Entertaining
We want our residents to be able to entertain their family members and guests that come to visit them and thus we have the following available for use:
- Multiple courtyards with sitting areas and tables for a picnic
- Sitting rooms and alcoves throughout the Home -- please make yourself comfortable!
- Guest dining room located on the upper level that you are welcome to reserve and use for a meal
- You can bring in your own food or purchase meal tickets and our Dietary staff will serve you from our kitchen
- There is a coffee pot, refrigerator and microwave available in this room
- This room has two tables that will seat 8 each. If you have a larger group, please contact our Activity Department and we will try to accommodate you in our activity room instead.
- Holiday dining – we welcome you to join your family member for a holiday meal
- Please contact our Dietary department for reservations
- In order to accommodate as many families as possible, we do limit each resident to 4 guests
- If you are part of a club and want to entertain your friends, please invite them and we will be glad to cater snacks or a meal for your group
